Sweet Reward: NH Ice Cream Trail Makes Touring the Granite State a Sweet Sensation

May 13, 2022 09:55PM ● By Tay Greenleaf

Want to travel on the sweeter side? Produced by the Granite State Dairy Promotion, the New Hampshire ice cream trail leads you throughout the state with more than enough dessert breaks along the way. First created in 2020, this year boasts the most participants with 50 independently owned ice cream sellers on the trail. It’s a delicious and kid-friendly way to appease your sweet tooth while supporting the local community.

Starting in Kingston with Memories Ice Cream, the trail leads you north before turning back along the coastline to end at Lago’s in Rye. Along the way, you will be able to taste all the ice creams you can imagine with each stop a little different than the others. From your traditional ice cream parlor to full-blown restaurants, soft serve offianatos to homemade waffle cones, each location will bring something a little bit different with the same summer treat as the star of the show. Have a family member who doesn’t like ice cream? Various stops on the trail offer other treats such as sorbets, confectionaries, and even full-blown seafood dinners, so there’s a little something for everyone.

With 50 places to try, you can download an Ice Cream Trail “passport” from the Granite State Dairy Promotion website to keep track of your progress. Lasting the summertime months, you are welcome to break the trail up into weekend trips or ( if you have the stomach room for it) you can try to hit all 50 places in one go. You can find the map and more information at https://www.nhdairypromo.org/.
